Synopsis :- This course consists of two interrelated parts. The first part deals with the concept of knowledge. It discusses its true meaning, nature, importance and objective, as well as the means to knowing and the sources of knowledge from an Islamic perspective. The course also describes the division of sciences into general and specific systems of classification. The second part deals with the concept of Islamic civilization and its related issues. It discusses the meaning of civilization from the perspective of tamadun, the contributions and impact of Islamic civilization to the world history, and examines the factors contributed to its rise and decline. The course also highlights some contemporary challenges facing the Ummah and the Muslims’ responses to them.
